Stewardship

Stewardship is not a program – it is a way of life.

Stewardship is not an activity – it is an attitude.

Stewardship is not a way to raise money — it is a way to attain holiness.

Stewardship is not just a decision of the head – it requires a conversion.

Stewardship is not an option – it is integral to our Catholic faith.

Stewardship is not another thing to do – it is why and how we do what we do.

Stewardship is not about our generosity – it is about our response to God’s generosity.

Stewardship is what you do after you say “I believe.”

Stewardship is about transformation. It is a call to conversion and spiritual renewal.

It is an invitation to place God first in our lives. It is an expression of our desire to make God’s priorities our priorities.

Stewardship has its beginning in baptism.

Our baptism as one of Christ’s disciples calls us to share our gifts — including our time, talent, and treasure.

Stewardship is based on the understanding that all that we have and all that we are is a gift from God – our time, our talent, our money and even the gift of life itself. We show our gratitude for these gifts by returning a portion of them back to God.

When we consider our participation in stewardship, we need to include our time and talent, as well as our treasure. Giving time and talent expresses our gratitude to the God who has given us these gifts to share with others. Our prayerful gifts of time, and talent, and treasure are concrete expressions of our faith – the way we give glory to God. By volunteering, we support our parish’s efforts to carry out the mission Christ gave us.

A STEWARDSHIP PRAYER

Gracious God, from you we receive the precious gift of our life.

Through baptism, you invite us to share the gift of our life in service to others.

Be with us as we choose each day to show your presence in our world.

Give us the courage and generosity to respond to your love.

We pray especially for those who serve you in ministry to our parish.

May they carry the “Good News” to those in need.

Open the minds and hearts of all our parishioners that we may accept your challenge to build your kingdom in our parish.

We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord.

Amen
